In response to media queries on whether the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has sought clarification from the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore on recent comments by Indonesian Maritime and Fisheries Minister Freddy Numberi in the Jakarta Post report of 3 March 2007 (see MFA Spokesman's comments of 4 March 2007 at Annex), the MFA Spokesman said:
"MFA called in Indonesian Ambassador Wardana this morning and conveyed a Third Person Note requesting Indonesia's Department of Foreign Affairs to urgently clarify whether Maritime and Fisheries Minister Freddy Numberi's recent comments represent the official policy of the Indonesian Government."
