In response to media queries on the recently concluded Annapolis Conference, the MFA spokesman said:
"Singapore welcomes the understanding reached between Prime Minister Olmert and President Abbas to immediately launch bilateral negotiations with the aim of concluding a comprehensive peace treaty by the end of 2008.
We are encouraged by the determination of both leaders to work towards peace and the goal of two states, Israel and Palestine, living side by side, in peace and security.
Singapore continues to support all efforts to secure a just and lasting peace in the Middle East."
