In response to press queries on an AFP report dated 7 July 97 about a FUNCINPEC official in Cambodia who had failed to obtain asylum at the Singapore Embassy in Phnom Penh, a spokesman for MFA said this report was wrong. No one asked for asylum at the Singapore Embassy in Phnom Penh and the Singapore Embassy did not check on the court warrant to arrest of anybody.
