NEW STRAITS TIMES ARTICLE "NEW BRIDGE GO AHEAD" DATED 4 SEPTEMBER 2005

In response to media queries, the MFA Spokesman said:

" At their meeting on 1 March 2005, SM Goh Chok Tong and PM Abdullah Badawi had agreed on the steps to move the discussions on bilateral issues forward. In line with this, senior officials from Singapore and Malaysia will meet on 7 September 2005 to discuss bilateral issues.

SM Goh and PM Abdullah had also agreed that it would not be helpful to publicise the details of these discussions. As discussions on the bridge to replace the Causeway are still ongoing, we should not prejudge the outcome of these discussions."
