In response to media queries on the earthquake off the coast of Aceh, Indonesia, the MFA Spokesman said:

“MFA is closely monitoring the situation following the earthquake off the coast of Aceh and the Indian Ocean-wide tsunami alert. Singaporeans in affected areas should pay close attention to and heed any instructions from the local authorities. Singaporeans in these areas should e-register at http://eregister.mfa.gov.sg/ if they have not done so already, so that we can contact them in the event of an emergency. Singaporeans who require consular assistance should contact the MFA Duty Officer (24-hours) at:
