In response to media queries on the bombing of a tourist bus in Taba, Egypt which killed four people and injured at least 14 passengers, the MFA spokesman said:
“Singapore strongly condemns the bombing of a tourist bus in Taba in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula on 16 February 2014, which killed three South Korean tourists and the Egyptian driver, and wounded several others. This is a heinous act of terrorism. We convey our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and stand in solidarity with the people and Governments of Egypt and the Republic of Korea.
Our Embassy in Cairo is in touch with Singaporeans in Egypt and there are no reports of affected Singaporeans thus far. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterates its travel notice issued on 5 February 2014 advising Singaporeans to defer non-essential travel to Egypt and to avoid any overland travel to and from the Sinai area.
