In response to media queries on the boat that capsized en route from Sibu to Mersing in Malaysia, the MFA Spokesman said:


"We understand that several Singaporeans were on board the ill-fated boat. Officers from our Consulate-General in Johor Bahru are on their way to Mersing to provide assistance. Singaporeans who are unable to reach their loved ones who were on board the boat, can contact the MFA duty office at +65-6379-8800 (24 hours) and the Singapore Consulate-General in Johor Bahru at +60-7226-5012 (24 hours).
