In response to media queries on the 6.0 magnitude earthquake in Sabah on 5 June 2015, the MFA spokesman said:
“There are more than 100 registered Singaporeans at the time of the earthquake in Sabah. As of 1930 hours, MFA has contacted the majority and we are glad that they are safe. We are doing our best to reach the Singaporeans who remain uncontactable at this point in time. MFA has also despatched a Crisis Response Team (CRT) to Sabah this afternoon to provide consular assistance to our Singaporeans.
Our thoughts are with those affected by the earthquake this morning. This afternoon, our High Commissioner in Kuala Lumpur contacted his counterparts in the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and conveyed Singapore’s message of support and offer of assistance.
Singaporeans who know of any loved ones and friends in Sabah that may require consular assistance can contact our High Commission in Kuala Lumpur at +60-16-661 0400 or singhc_kul@sgmfa.gov.sg. Alternatively, they may contact the MFA Duty Officer (24-hours) at 6379 8800 / 8855 or mfa_duty_officer@mfa.gov.sg.”
