Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr Balaji Sadisivan made a working visit to Batam from 29-30 August 2008. During the visit, SMS Balaji attended the Singapore National Day Reception in Batam as Guest-of-Honour. SMS Balaji also met the Governor of the Riau Islands Province Mr Ismeth Abdullah and will visit the Batam Otorita Hospital, which is collaborating with Singapore's Alexandra Hospital in several projects to enhance each other's medical expertise.
