               Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office and Ministry of Manpower Sam Tan visited Svalbard, Norway from 26 to 28 January 2016. 

               MOS Tan met with Governor Kjerstin Askholt, who briefed him on developments in Svalbard.  They also discussed opportunities for collaboration between Singapore and Svalbard.  MOS Tan visited the University Centre in Svalbard (UNIS) for a briefing on the university.  The discussions with members of the faculty focussed on possible research and academic cooperation between UNIS and Singapore institutions.  In addition, MOS Tan toured the Svalbard Global Seed Vault, a secure seed bank, and visited the Svalbard Satellite Station. 

                MOS Tan returns to Singapore today.
