Rt Hon Lord Mandelson is on a visit to Singapore as the 32nd Lee Kuan Yew Exchange Fellow from 16 to 23 September 2011.

Lord Mandelson is a Member of the House of Lords. He was elected to Parliament in 1992 and entered British government in 1997, serving as Secretary of State for Trade and Industry and Secretary of State for Northern Ireland. In 2004, he became EU Commissioner for Trade until 2008 when he re-entered the British government serving as Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills and First Secretary of State until 2010. He published his autobiography, "The Third Man" (Harper Collins) in 2010. He is currently Chairman of Global Counsel and Senior Adviser to Lazard.

While in Singapore, Lord Mandelson is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance and Manpower Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Former Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew, Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, Minister for Trade and Industry Lim Hng Kiang, Minister for National Development Khaw Boon Wan, Minister for Transport and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs Lui Tuck Yew, and Acting Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports Chan Chun Sing. He will also interact with Parliamentarians and various agencies, including the Central Provident Fund Board, the Monetary Authority of Singapore, Government of Singapore Investment Corporation, Singtel, and the Institute of Policy Studies. Mr Eddie Teo, Chairman of the Lee Kuan Yew Exchange Fellowship, will host a Welcome Dinner for Lord Mandelson.

Lord Mandelson is also scheduled to deliver a public lecture at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy on the topic "The Case of Singapore: Building on Economic Success in a Changing World". He will also address the 3rd Schuman Lecture Gala Dinner organised by the European Chamber of Commerce (EuroCham) and the Singapore Global Dialogue organised by the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS).

Established in 1991, the LKYEF programme invites outstanding individuals for high-level exchange visits to Singapore. The Fellows are chosen on the basis of their proven track records or extraordinary potential to contribute to the development of their nations, as well as promote international understanding and goodwill.
