Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo attended the Singapore-US Strategic Dialogue in Washington D.C. from 2 to 3 October 2008. The Dialogue, co-organised by the Centre for a New American Security (CNAS) and the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) was part of a continuing dialogue with the US policy community on bilateral relations, US policy towards Asia and other international and regional issues.
Other participants from Singapore included Senior Minister of State for Education and National Development Grace Fu, Minister of State for Trade and Industry Lee Yi Shyan, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Health and Manpower Hawazi Daipi, personalities from Singapore think tanks, and representatives from the media and the private sector.
CNAS is a leading independent and non-partisan research institute, which focuses on developing national security and defence policies. Based in Washington D.C., CNAS was established in February 2007, and co-founded by Dr Kurt Campbell, formerly Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence for Asia and the Pacific.
