Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo will visit Yangon from 24 - 26 May 2008 where he will co-chair the ASEAN-UN International Pledging Conference with the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon. The Conference will focus on the needs of those affected by Cyclone Nargis, and seek international support and financial assistance for the international humanitarian response to meet the most urgent challenges as well as longer term recovery efforts of Myanmar following the devastating impact of Cyclone Nargis. Minister Yeo will also meet with the Singapore medical team that is assisting in relief efforts in Twante township in Myanmar. Minister Yeo will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
