The Chairman of Indonesia's People's Consultative Assembly (MPR)His Excellency H.M. Taufiq Kiemas paid a courtesy call on President Dr Tony Tan Keng Yam this afternoon. H.E. Taufiq was accompanied by the MPR Vice Chairmen and Faction Heads. H.E. Taufiq and President Tanreaffirmed the warm relations between Singapore and Indonesia. They also underscored the importance ofASEAN in promoting regional stability and prosperity.

H.E. Taufiq and his delegation were also hosted to lunch byMinister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law Mr K Shanmugam. Both sides exchanged views on how to strengthen Singapore-Indonesia ties.

H.E. Taufiq and his delegation are visiting Singapore from 7 to 10 October 2012 at the invitation of Speaker of Parliament Mr Michael Palmer.
