Minister of State and Foreign Affairs Dr Luís Amado visited Singapore from 8 to 9 February 2009. Minister Amado was hosted to lunch by Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo today. During the lunch, the two Ministers reaffirmed the warm bilateral ties between Singapore and Portugal and explored ways to advance bilateral relations. They also discussed international and regional issues, including the global economic crisis as well as developments in Asia and Europe. Prior to the lunch, Minister Yeo and Minister Amado visited St Joseph Church (along Victoria Street) where the Portuguese Mission was founded in 1825.
