                Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister-in-charge of the Smart Nation initiative Dr Vivian Balakrishnan is in China this week on a Smart Nation study visit to Shanghai, Hangzhou and Shenzhen, during which he will meet government and company representatives to exchange views on smart city initiatives.

                Minister Balakrishnan met Zhejiang Party Secretary Xia Baolong in Hangzhou this morning.  They had a good discussion on the latest developments in Zhejiang and the close cooperation between Zhejiang and Singapore.  Minister Balakrishnan and Party Secretary Xia also recalled the good meeting between Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping in Hangzhou this September, where both leaders reaffirmed the close and longstanding friendship between our two countries.
