Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo, who arrived in Yangon today for his bilateral visit, met Myanmar Minister for Foreign Affairs U Nyan Win. They had a friendly and wide-ranging discussion on enhancing bilateral cooperation, such as through cultural exchanges. They reiterated the importance of bilateral cooperation between Singapore and Myanmar. Minister U Nyan Win also briefed Minister Yeo on the internal situation in Myanmar, outlining the efforts being made to ensure that the National Convention is successfully concluded this year.

Minister U Nyan Win also hosted dinner for Minister Yeo.

Tomorrow, Minister Yeo will travel to Nay Pyi Taw and is scheduled to meet State Peace and Development Council Secretary-1 Lieutenant-General Thein Sein.
