Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Mrs Lee hosted His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik of Brunei and his wife, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Raabi’atul ‘Adawiyyah, to tea on 16 August.

His Royal Highness, Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Raabi’atul and Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Roselan Daud were hosted to dinner by Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean and Mrs Teo on 18 August. Minister of State, Ministry of Communications and Information and Ministry of Health Chee Hong Tat was also present.

His Royal Highness and Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Raabi’atul were accompanied by Senior Minister of State, Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Transport Josephine Teo on their tour of Gardens by the Bay on 17 August.

                His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik ibni Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah will conclude his five-day visit to Singapore tomorrow.

                On 16 August, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Mrs Lee hosted His Royal Highness and his wife, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Raabi’atul ‘Adawiyyah, to tea at the Istana.  His Royal Highness was also hosted to lunch by Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan.  Both sides welcomed the warm personal ties between Singapore and Brunei’s leaders which spanned many decades.

                On 17 August, His Royal Highness toured the Gardens by the Bay, accompanied by Senior Minister of State, Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Transport Josephine Teo.  His Royal Highness also met Acting Minister for Education (Schools) Ng Chee Meng and discussed areas for further cooperation in the education sectors of Singapore and Brunei.

                On 18 August, His Royal Highness was hosted to dinner by Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean.  They had a fruitful exchange of views on youth exchanges, security-related developments, and reaffirmed the need for continued cooperation in these areas.  Earlier in the day, His Royal Highness was hosted to lunch by Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth and Ministry of Finance Sim Ann.  Both sides noted the deep cultural affinities between Singapore and Brunei, and the strong people-to-people links.  His Royal Highness also met Minister for Social and Family Development Tan Chuan-Jin, where they exchanged views on a range of government-led efforts focussed on promoting resilient families, supporting persons with disabilities and children with special needs, and elderly care.

                His Royal Highness also visited the Home Team Tactical Centre (HTTC) and the Police Operations Command Centre as part of his engagements with the Ministry of Home Affairs.  At the HTTC, he witnessed a counter-terrorism demonstration exercise and received a briefing on the role of the Home Team Academy as the Corporate University of the Home Team.  His Royal Highness was also briefed on Singapore’s security-related developments at the National Security Coordination Secretariat.  On the economic front, His Royal Highness received briefings from SPRING Singapore and the Economic Development Board.  His Royal Highness also received briefings on community and youth engagement at *SCAPE and Yayasan MENDAKI.

                His Royal Highness will return to Bandar Seri Begawan tomorrow.
