At the invitation of Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam, Chairperson of the Lower House Committee for Rule of Law, Peace and Tranquility in the Myanmar Parliament and Chairperson of the National League for Democracy Daw Aung San Suu Kyi will make her first visit to Singapore from 20 to 24 September 2013.

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi will call on President Tony Tan Keng Yam, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, Speaker of Parliament Mdm Halimah Yacob and Minister, Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for the Environment and Water Resources, and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs Grace Fu during her visit. In addition, Emeritus Senior Minister will host Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and her delegation to lunch at the Istana.

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi will receive a briefing from the Singapore Economic Development Board, the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau and the Ministry of Education. She will also visit the Institute of Technical Education College East.

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi will be delivering two speeches while in Singapore. On 21 September 2013, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi will deliver the Conference Keynote Address at the Singapore Summit 2013 at the Shangri-La Hotel. On 22 September 2013, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi will speak at the Singapore Management University's Ho Rih Hwa Leadership in Asia Public Lecture Series.
