The President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, His Excellency U Thein Sein, will make a State Visit to Singapore from 29 January to 1 February 2012 at the invitation of President Tony Tan Keng Yam.
President Thein Sein will be accompanied by his spouse Daw Khin Khin Win, and a high-level delegation comprising Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Wunna Maung Lwin, Union Minister for Agriculture and Irrigation U Myint Hlaing, Union Minister in the President's Office U Thein Nyunt, Union Minister for Construction U Khin Maung Myint, Union Minister for Transport U Nyan Tun Aung, Union Minister for Education Dr Mya Aye, Deputy Minister for Health Dr Win Myint, Mayor of Yangon City U Hla Myint, senior officials, and business delegates.
After the official Welcome Ceremony at the Istana, President Thein Sein will pay a courtesy call on President Tan. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will also meet President Thein Sein. They will witness the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on the Singapore-Myanmar Technical Cooperation Programme. In addition to lunch hosted by Prime Minister Lee, President and Mrs Tan will host a State Banquet in honour of President Thein Sein and Daw Khin Khin Win.
While in Singapore, President Thein Sein will also have a breakfast meeting with Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, and visit the Housing Development Board Hub.
