Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs Masagos Zulkifli will visit Dhaka, Bangladesh from 21 March to 22 March 2013 to represent Singapore at the state funeral of the late Bangladesh President Mohammad Zillur Rahman. He will be accompanied by MFA officials.
President Tony Tan, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam have conveyed their condolences to the late President’s family and the Government of Bangladesh. The letters are attached.

A leader who worked tirelessly throughout his life, President Rahman will be remembered for his indomitable spirit and loyalty to Bangladesh.
I met President Rahman in Singapore in April 2012. Over tea at the Istana, he shared with me his very perceptive views on how Singapore and Bangladesh can work together to further deepen our excellent bilateral ties.
His passing is a great loss for the people of Bangladesh. Our thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time.
