In view of the Santika Club fire tragedy in Bangkok, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has sent a condolence letter to Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva. The text of the letter is as below:

2 January 2009
Dear Excellency,

I was deeply saddened to learn of the tragic loss of
lives in the fire at the Santika Club in Bangkok on 1 January
2009. Singaporeans were also among the injured and fatalities.
I am sure under your leadership, the Thai authorities will provide
their best assistance to the families and relatives of these
victims.

On behalf of the Government of Singapore, I would
like to extend our deepest condolences and sympathies to the
families of the victims. Our thoughts and sympathies are with
them during this difficult time.
