The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan made an official visit to Singapore from 11 to 12 August 2009 at the invitation of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

On 12 August, HH Sheikh Mohammed met with President S R Nathan and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana. He was also hosted to lunch by Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong at the Istana.

HH Sheikh Mohammed and our leaders had broad and wide-ranging discussions, and welcomed the healthy exchange of high-level visits that have underscored the strategic partnership between Singapore and the UAE. They discussed the experiences of the governments of both countries in addressing the challenges of education and national security. They also discussed a wide range of international issues, including the possibility of economic cooperation between Singapore and the UAE in third countries.

Both sides agreed that as small countries, Singapore and the UAE shared many similarities. Both sides also reiterated their commitment to further strengthen and expand bilateral cooperation.
