US Secretary of Defence Robert Gates called on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong this evening. Prime Minister Lee and Secretary Gates discussed a wide range of issues including recent developments in Asia and the Middle East. Mr Lee emphasised the importance of the United States' role in the Asia-Pacific region. They also affirmed the excellent defence and security cooperation between Singapore and the United States.
