Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo met with His Eminence Cardinal Renato Raffaele Martino, the Special Envoy of His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI on 22 June 2006. They reviewed the state of relations between Singapore and the Holy See after 25 years of diplomatic relations and appreciated the warmth and close cooperation in the relations. They had a wide ranging discussion and agreed on the importance of promoting a message of moderation and inter-faith understanding.
