    Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam is on a visit to London, United Kingdom, to attend an international arbitration hearing involving Singapore.  Minister Shanmugam also met with the new UK Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond on 17 July 2014.  During the meeting, the two Ministers reaffirmed the close and longstanding ties between Singapore and the UK.  Minister congratulated Hammond on his appointment as Foreign Secretary.  They exchanged views on regional developments.  Foreign Secretary Hammond expressed support for the European Union-Singapore Free Trade Agreement.

    Minister Shanmugam was also the guest speaker at a private breakfast briefing at Asia House with British businessmen on 16 July 2014, where current developments in ASEAN, China, Japan and India were discussed.
