Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic His Excellency Saleumxay Kommasith made his introductory visit to Singapore from 12 to 13 February 2017, at the invitation of Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan.
During their meeting, both Ministers welcomed the growing bilateral relationship and discussed ways to broaden cooperation between Singapore and Laos. They exchanged views on regional and international developments, emphasising the importance of ASEAN centrality and unity. Minister Balakrishnan also hosted Minister Saleumxay to lunch.
Minister Saleumxay paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. Minister Saleumxay thanked Singapore for its support for Laos’ socio-economic development and 2016 ASEAN Chairmanship. PM and Minister Saleumxay also welcomed the increased flight connectivity between our countries, which would boost tourism and increase our business links.
