MFA Press Statement: Introductory Visit of Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan to Negara Brunei Darussalam, 25-26 October 2015

Singapore Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan had an audience with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah during his introductory visit to Brunei on 26 October 2015. Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan is in Brunei for his introductory visit.  He had an audience with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah on 26 October 2015.  His Majesty reaffirmed the special relationship between Singapore and Brunei, and welcomed the close cooperation between both countries.  He also expressed the hope that both countries, given their many commonalities, would continue to work together to address regional and global challenges.

Minister Balakrishnan also had meetings with His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al-Muhtadee Billah, Ambassador-at-Large Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Pehin Lim Jock Seng, and Minister of Education Pehin Suyoi Osman, and had good discussions on bilateral cooperation and regional developments.

Minister Balakrishnan will return to Singapore later today.
