MFA Press Statement: Congratulatory Messages from President Tony Tan Keng Yam to the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Tran Dai Quang and from Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to the Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Nguyen Xuan Phuc

            President Tony Tan Keng Yam has written a congratulatory letter to President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Tran Dai Quang on the latter’s appointment.  Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has also written to congratulate Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on his appointment.  The text of President’s and PM’s congratulatory letters are appended.

               On behalf of the Government of Singapore, I would like to extend my warmest congratulations on your appointment as Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.  Your appointment takes place at a critical juncture in Vietnam’s development, especially with Vietnam’s growing integration with the global economic community.  I am confident that you and your colleagues will be able to steer Vietnam towards greater growth and prosperity.

               Singapore and Vietnam enjoy good relations, built upon the foundation of regular high-level exchanges, robust economic cooperation and close people-to-people ties.  Singapore is currently the third largest foreign investor in Vietnam and our bilateral trade has been expanding over the years.  We also work closely within ASEAN and in other regional and international fora.  I look forward to working with you to expand and deepen the strong ties between our two countries.
