                    It gives me great pleasure to congratulate Your Highness on your succession as Emir of the State of Qatar.

                    Your succession comes at a vital juncture in the history of Qatar and the Middle East.  I am confident that under your wise and astute leadership, Qatar will make further progress in achieving its National Vision 2030 based on sustainable development and good governance.

                    As small countries, there is much Singapore and Qatar can work together for mutual benefit. Our two countries have forged a strong partnership in many areas under the framework of the Qatar-Singapore High Level Joint Committee.  I am confident that with the continued support from Your Highness, our bilateral relations will strengthen in the years ahead.

                    I look forward to welcoming Your Highness to Singapore to enhance our partnership for the benefit of our peoples.

                    Singapore and Qatar enjoy excellent ties, underpinned by frequent high-level exchanges and wide-ranging cooperation.  The Qatar-Singapore High Level Joint Committee, which Your Highness had co-chaired, is an excellent platform to strengthen our partnership.  I look forward to working with Your Highness to take our bilateral relations to new heights.
