Your Excellency,

                   I would like to extend my warmest congratulations on your election as President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. 

                   Relations between Singapore and Myanmar are longstanding and multi-faceted, encompassing areas such as trade and investment, education, finance, health, legal cooperation, and vocational education.  Our people-to-people ties are strong and growing.  In April this year, we will mark the 50th anniversary of our diplomatic relations.  It is a significant milestone and I am certain that our bilateral relations will continue to strengthen in existing and new fields. 

                    I wish you success and would like to extend an invitation to you and Daw Su Su Lwin to visit Singapore at the earliest opportunity.

Letter from Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to President-elect U Htin Kyaw

Your Excellency,

                  On behalf of the Government, I would like to convey my warmest congratulations on your election as President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. 

                  Singapore and Myanmar are old friends and neighbours.  We enjoy excellent cooperation on a wide range of issues, including trade and investment, education, finance, health and legal matters, vocational education, and vibrant people-to-people exchanges.  Our two countries will soon commemorate the 50th anniversary of our diplomatic relations on 12th April this year. 

                I look forward to working with you to enhance our relations and deepen our cooperation in ASEAN and the international community.
