President S R Nathan and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong have written condolence letters to Vietnamese President Nguyen Minh Triet and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung respectively on the devastation in southern Vietnam caused by Tropical Storm Durian. The letters are attached below.

[Note: Prime Minister Dung was scheduled to visit Singapore from 7-8 December 2006. However, the visit was postponed in light of the storm.]
