At a ceremony at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 30 August 2010, Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo and Indonesian Foreign Minister Dr Marty Natalegawa exchanged the Instruments of Ratification for the Treaty between the Republic of Indonesia and the Republic of Singapore Relating to the Delimitation of the Territorial Seas of the Two Countries in the Western Part of the Strait of Singapore, which was earlier signed in Jakarta on 10 March 2009. The exchange of Instruments of Ratification brings the Treaty into force, and is a significant milestone in Singapore's bilateral relations with Indonesia. It demonstrates the mutual commitment of the two countries to resolving bilateral issues in an amicable manner on the basis of international law.
