Mr Jean-François Copé, elected leader of the Parliamentary Group of the Union pour un Mouvement Populaire (UMP) party in the National Assembly of the French Republic called on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong this morning at the Istana.

During the call, Mr Lee and Mr Copé had an exchange of views on a wide range of issues, including ways to further strengthen cooperation between France and Singapore, and developments in East Asia and Europe. Mr Lee also provided Mr Copé with an update on ASEAN's integration efforts.

Mr Copé is here as the distinguished visitor of the Singapore International Foundation and will open the French Corner at the National Library Board on 28 March 2008.
