Former US Secretary of Defense Dr Robert Gates called on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana this afternoon. During the meeting, PM Lee and Dr Gates affirmed the excellent state of bilateral relations. They also had a good discussion on developments in the US, as well as on international and regional current affairs.

While in Singapore, Dr Gates also met Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs Teo Chee Hean, and was hosted to lunch by Minister for Defence Ng Eng Hen.
