EU Trade Commissioner Karel De Gucht, who is on a working visit to Singapore, called on Minister for Foreign Affairs and Law K Shanmugam at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs this afternoon.

Minister Shanmugam and Commissioner De Gucht had a good and frank exchange of views. They reviewed relations between Singapore and the EU and expressed satisfaction with the overall progress in the on-going negotiations on the EU-Singapore Free Trade Agreement (EUSFTA) and EU-Singapore Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (ESPCA). Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to conclude mutually beneficial agreements.
