Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and the Minister-President of Bavaria, Mr Edmund Stoiber, had a good discussion on environment protection, in particular, the need to address global warming. They agreed on the importance of moving towards greater energy efficiency. New technologies for better environment protection and clean and renewable energy were highlighted as areas of bilateral collaboration between our higher educational institutions as well as in R&D. Mr Lee and Mr Stoiber also had a brief exchange of views on the demographic trends of low fertility rates and an ageing population in Germany and Singapore.
