MFA Press Statement: Appointment of Singapore’s Non-Resident Ambassador to the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria

The Government has appointed Mr Mohammad Alami Musa as Singapore’s next Ambassador to the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria. He will be resident in Singapore. Mr Mohammad Alami Musa replaces incumbent Mr Zulkifli Baharudin.

Mr Mohammad Alami Musa is currently the Head of Studies in Inter-Religious Relations in Plural Societies at the S Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Nanyang Technological University.

He is concurrently the Non-Executive President of Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura (MUIS) Council and Honorary Business Representative for Middle East and North Africa for International Enterprise Singapore.

Mr Mohammad Alami Musa joined the Civil Service as an Engineer in the Ministry of the Environment in 1981. He was seconded to MUIS in July 2003 as Vice-President and was appointed President of MUIS from September 2003 to August 2013.

Mr Mohammad Alami was awarded the Long Service Medal in 2005 and the Public Administration Medal (Silver) in 2010.

He is married to Madam Rukaiyah Ahmid and they have two daughters and two sons.

BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY

Mr Mohammad Alami Musa is currently the Head of Studies in Inter-Religious Relations in Plural Societies at the S Rajaratnam School of International Studies (NTU).

He is concurrently the Non-Executive President of Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura (MUIS Council) and Honorary Business Representative for Middle East and North Africa for International Enterprise Spore
(IE Singapore).

Mr Mohammad Alami was born on 7 July 1956 in Singapore. He graduated with Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) in 1979 from the University of Singapore. He received his Master of Science (Civil Engineering) from National University of Singapore in 1987.

Mr Mohammad Alami joined the Civil Service as an Engineer in the Ministry of Environment in 1981. He was seconded to MUIS in July 2003 as Vice-President and was appointed as full time President of MUIS from September 2003 to August 2013.

Mr Mohammad Alami was awarded The Long Service Medal in 2005 and the Public Administration Medal (Silver) in 2010.

Mr Mohammad Alami is married to Madam Rukaiyah Ahmid. They have two daughters and two sons.
