The Government of the Republic of Singapore, with the agreement of the Government of Canada, has appointed Mr Chia-yi Chua as Singapore’s Honorary Consul-General in Toronto, Canada, with jurisdiction over the province of Ontario.
This appointment will further enhance Singapore’s bilateral ties with Canada, which is currently represented by our Non-Resident High Commissioner to Canada as well as our Honorary Consul-General in Vancouver.
Mr Chia-yi Chua, 48, is currently a partner at McCarthy Tetrault LLP, where he leads the tax litigation and tax dispute resolution group. Mr Chua represents companies in Canada’s significant industries, including financial services, telecommunications, resource, retail, hospitality and transportation. He was previously named one of Canada’s leading tax litigation lawyers by Chambers Global: The World’s Leading Lawyers for Business 2010-2014.
Through his appointment as Honorary Consul-General, Mr Chua will perform important representational duties and notarial functions as well as extend consular assistance to Singaporeans. The address of the Singapore Consulate-General in Toronto is as follows:
