Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong had a meeting with Guangdong Party Secretary Hu Chunhua while attending the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road International Expo Forum in Guangzhou, China.  Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the development of Singapore-Guangdong relations and agreed to explore ways to further strengthen ties, including through closer cooperation in the Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City (SSGKC).   Both sides noted the consensus at the 12th Joint Council for Bilateral Cooperation on Guangdong’s proposal to elevate the SSGKC to a Chinese State Level Strategic Project.  The modalities will be further discussed.  ESM earlier delivered a Keynote Address at the Forum and is scheduled to meet with Guangzhou Party Secretary Ren Xuefeng tomorrow before departing for Beijing.
