Your Excellency

I am deeply saddened by the increasing toll on human lives and the devastation caused by the floods in Queensland. The people of Queensland are facing a very severe test. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has spoken to Prime Minister Julia Gillard to convey Singapore's offer of assistance.

On behalf of the people and Government of Singapore, I extend our deepest condolences and sympathies to the families of the victims and those who have lost their properties. Our thoughts are with the Australian people during this difficult time. I am confident that the people of Queensland will overcome the disaster with fortitude.
