Lee Kuan Yew Exchange Fellowship (LKYEF) Fellow Margrethe Vestager's Visit to Singapore, 17 to 22 August 2026
Ms Margrethe Vestager, Chair of the Board of Governors of the Technical University of Denmark and former European Commission Executive Vice-President for A Europe Fit for the Digital Age, will visit Singapore under the Lee Kuan Yew Exchange Fellowship (LKYEF) from 17 to 22 August 2026. Established in 1991, the LKYEF invites outstanding individuals to visit Singapore. The Fellows are chosen based on their track record and potential to contribute to the development of their nations and the strengthening of bilateral relations with Singapore. Ms Vestager is the 85th LKYEF Fellow as well as the first from Denmark.
During her Fellowship, Ms Vestager will meet with President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment and Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations Grace Fu, Minister for Digital Development and Information Josephine Teo, and Minister of State-designate in the Ministry of Trade and Industry Foo Cexiang. Chairman of the LKYEF Lee Tzu Yang will host a welcome dinner for Ms Vestager.
Ms Vestager’s Fellowship programme will also include engagements with government agencies, industry stakeholders and partners, as well as site visits across Singapore. The programme will provide Ms Vestager with a deeper understanding of Singapore’s policy priorities on digital transformation and Artificial Intelligence (AI), economic competitiveness, sustainability, and the social compact. It will also showcase Singapore’s approaches across areas such as research & innovation, digital industry development, financial services, investment promotion, housing, and public utilities.
