The Seventh Meeting of the Qatar-Singapore High-Level Joint Committee (HLJC) was held in Doha, Qatar on Sunday, 6 March 2016. The HLJC was co-chaired by His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al Thani, Prime Minister and Interior Minister of the State of Qatar, and His Excellency Mr Teo Chee Hean, Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security of the Republic of Singapore. The meeting was also attended by ministers and senior officials from Qatar and Singapore. The warm and friendly meeting reflected the outstanding and special relationship between both countries. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to the HLJC as the pillar of bilateral cooperation. The two sides also welcomed the growth in bilateral relations and cooperation, and the strong engagement between Qatar and Singapore in various sectors since the convening of the inaugural HLJC meeting in October 2006, particularly in the fields of economic cooperation, civil service training, urban planning, security and civil defence cooperation, information and communications technology, and legal cooperation. The two sides welcomed the signing of the MOU on Cooperation in the Field of Education between the Ministry of Education and Higher Education of the State of Qatar and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Singapore, and the MOU on Cooperation in the Legal Field between the Ministry of Justice of the State of Qatar and the Ministry of Law of the Republic of Singapore. Both sides also welcomed the renewal of the MOU on Cooperation and Exchange in the Area of Capacity Development of Government Officials and Sectoral Leaders between the Qatar Leadership Centre of the State of Qatar and the Civil Service College of the Republic of Singapore. The two sides agreed that the next HLJC meeting will be held in Singapore at a convenient date to be determined through diplomatic channels. . . . . .
