               Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan will attend the 18th Council of Ministers Meeting of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) in Durban, South Africa on 2 November 2018.  The meeting is hosted by the Chair of IORA, South Africa.  Minister Balakrishnan will discuss with other Member States ways to enhance cooperation within the Indian Ocean Rim.

               Singapore is a founding member of IORA, which was established in 1997 to promote regional economic cooperation in the Indian Ocean.  IORA currently has 21 Member States from Africa, the Middle East, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Australia, and seven Dialogue Partners, namely China, Egypt, Japan, France, Germany, the UK and the US.  Minister Balakrishnan will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
