Fourth India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) and the India-Singapore Business Roundtable (ISBR), 20 August 2026
The fourth India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) was held in Singapore on 20 August 2026.
The Ministers reaffirmed the close and longstanding partnership between Singapore and India, underpinned by strong economic and people-to-people ties. They discussed cooperation in a wide range of mutually beneficial areas, including sustainability, digitalisation, skills development, healthcare and medicine, advanced manufacturing, and connectivity.
The Ministers welcomed initiatives to develop new growth industries in Singapore and India, which will in turn create trade and investment opportunities for Singapore and India businesses for the benefit of both countries.
The Ministers witnessed the exchange of two Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) to collaborate on (i) food safety and (ii) maritime heritage, as well as (iii) one Letter of Intent (LOI) to cooperate in telecommunications and broadcasting. The details of the MOUs/LOI are at Annex. The Ministers looked forward to further progressing the National Centre of Excellence for Advanced Manufacturing in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, which will be supported by the Singapore Cooperation Programme.
The fourth India-Singapore Business Roundtable (ISBR) was held concurrently with the ISMR. Discussions focused on improving the ease of doing business in India, improving capital market flows, and cooperation in AI. Indian businesses also explored ways of working with Singapore to access international markets.
Prior to the ISMR, the Indian Ministerial delegation called on Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong. Prime Minister Wong and the Indian Ministers reaffirmed the importance of the ISMR as a key bilateral platform for cooperation. They discussed new and emerging areas for cooperation to strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Singapore and India.
Deputy Prime Minister Gan will host the Singapore and India ISMR Ministers and ISBR participants to a joint lunch.
