Exchange of Congratulatory Letters to Commemorate 60th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Singapore and Pakistan, 24 August 2026

The Republic of Singapore and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan established diplomatic relations on 17 August 1966. To commemorate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations, Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong, and Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan exchanged messages with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, respectively. The texts of the messages from Prime Minister Wong and Minister Balakrishnan are appended.

On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Singapore, I extend my warmest wishes to you and your government on the auspicious occasion of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Singapore and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.



          Our countries have enjoyed shared warm and friendly relations, built on mutual respect and understanding, over the past six decades. Pakistan was one of the first countries to recognise Singapore after our independence in 1965. We have collaborated bilaterally and in multilateral fora. There is scope to expand our cooperation in trade facilitation, digital economy, people-to-people exchanges, and capacity building. As we commemorate this milestone, I look forward to working with you and your government to explore ways to further broaden our partnership.
