DPM Gan Kim Yong to Visit the People’s Republic of China

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong will visit the People’s Republic of China on 15 December 2025.
Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong will make an Official Visit to Chongqing, China, on 15 December 2025, at the invitation of Vice Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Ding Xuexiang.
DPM Gan and Vice Premier Ding will be co-chairing the 21st Joint Council for Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC). It is the apex bilateral platform convened annually to review the substantive collaboration between Singapore and China.
The co-chairs will also convene the 26th Suzhou Industrial Park Joint Steering Council (JSC), 17th Tianjin Eco-City JSC, and 9th Chongqing Connectivity Initiative (CCI) JSC on 15 December. The JSCs review the progress made on the three flagship Government-to-Government projects and discuss ways to further their development. In addition, DPM Gan will have a bilateral meeting with Vice Premier Ding.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the CCI. Since its establishment, and keeping with its theme of “Modern Connectivity and Modern Services”, the CCI has strengthened connectivity between our countries in areas such as financial and digital services, and facilitated broader cooperation between Western China and the broader region. DPM Gan and Vice Premier Ding will visit sites featuring initiatives driven through the CCI and engage in commemorative activities as part of the anniversary. DPM Gan will also meet Secretary of the Communist Party of China Chongqing Municipal Committee Yuan Jiajun.
DPM Gan will be accompanied by Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Digital Development and Information Josephine Teo, Minister for Education and Minister-in-charge of Social Services Integration Desmond Lee, Minister for Manpower and Minister-in-charge of Energy and Science & Technology Dr Tan See Leng, Senior Minister of State in the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment and the Ministry of Defence Zaqy Mohamad, Senior Minister of State in the Ministry of Digital Development and Information and the Ministry of Health Tan Kiat How, Senior Minister of State in the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth Low Yen Ling, Senior Minister of State in the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of National Development Sun Xueling, as well as officials from the various Ministries and agencies.
