A 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck near the city of Perugia in central Italy on 24 August 2016, resulting in casualties. Since the earthquake, there are reports of several aftershocks. Rescue operations are ongoing.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has verified the safety of all registered Singaporeans in Perugia.
