Your Excellency,

My warmest congratulations on your appointment as Prime Minister of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.

Relations between Singapore and Lao PDR are very good and warm. Bilateral cooperation has expanded substantially over the years, including in mutually beneficial initiatives such as the Lao PDR-Thailand-Malaysia-Singapore Power Integration Project. We are also cooperating in new areas including carbon credits and combatting transnational crime.

Singapore has been a strong supporter of Lao PDR’s development through training courses organised by the Singapore Cooperation Programme and the Initiative for ASEAN Integration. This year marks 25 years of development cooperation with Lao PDR, and we will continue to strengthen this partnership in tandem with Lao PDR’s development priorities.

I would like to invite you to make an Official Visit to Singapore. I look forward to working closely with you to take our bilateral relations forward.
