Comments by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesman on the Meeting between DPM BG (NS) Lee Hsien Loong and the Crown Prince of Bahrain, HH Shaikh Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa

The Crown Prince of Bahrain His Highness Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa met with DPM BG(NS) Lee Hsien Loong this morning. During the meeting, HH Shaikh Salman said that he was impressed by what Singapore had achieved within a short span of time and thanked the Singapore government and its people for the warm hospitality extended to him. HH Shaikh Salman mentioned that his main focus in visiting Singapore was to gain a better understanding of the key economic institutions and their functions, as well as the values that helped to promote sustainable economic growth. HH Shaikh Salman briefed DPM Lee on the penetration and usage of information technology in Bahrain. HH Shaikh Salman and DPM Lee also discussed the importance of liberalising key sectors of the economy, like telecommunications and financial services, in order to stay ahead and remain competitive. Both sides agreed on the need to enhance trade and further strengthen bilateral relations.
